Doing Good Work
Having begun her study of stained glass in Canada in 1974, Sarah Hall continued her studies at Swansea College of Art in Wales and in 1977 earned a diploma in architectural glass from the City and Guilds of London Institute. She served as apprentice under Lawrence Lee, the glass master at the royal College of art and designer of the window of Coventry Cathedral. A Strong interest in ancient Islamic glass and middle Eastern techniques led Sarah to Jerusalem for eight additional month of study.
Since 1980, Sarah’s studio has been in Toronto. She has completed commissions for churches, schools, hospitals and private collections throughout Ontario and elsewhere. She recently completed one of the world‘s largest (12 hundred square feet) glass murals for Scotia Plaza in Toronto. Her work has been awarded prizes from the Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art and Architecture (1992), Modern Liturgy magazine (1992,1991,1990) and the Arts Council (1992,1991,1989,1987,1985).
